I am a 28-year-old male currently living in the Salt Lake City area. I grew up in the small tourist town of Moab, Utah, but moved away shortly after graduating high school in 2006. The small town thing just wasn’t for me. However, I did move back to Moab for 5 years, while working for an Internet Service Provider. I have worked in the IT industry for 7+ years, mostly for ISPs.
Until July 2015, I worked as the IT Director for River Canyon Wireless, a WISP that provides Internet service to several communities in south-eastern Utah, based in Moab. While there, I was responsible for network administration, server administration, network planning and deployment, and network configuring.
Also, while living in Moab, I started my own computer repair business. We handled PC, Mac, and cellular repair. In addition, we also, upon request, did security camera and alarm installs. While I loved what I did, it required I live in Moab. Eventually I decided to move to the Salt Lake City area.
While I have extensive knowledge and experience in IT, for most of my career I have leveraged a sort of natural skill, and self-taught knowledge. In early 2017, I decided to start getting certifications in order to broaden my prospective positions. On January 12th, 2017 I obtained my CompTIA A+ Certification. That is not where I am stopping however. I also have plans to get the following certifications in the next year:
- CompTIA Network+
- CompTIA Linux+
- CompTIA Mobility+
- CompTIA Security+
- CompTIA Server+
This list may evolve, as I am always looking to advance my knowledge and credentials.
